Weddings are a completely unique event in the world with all of the best things in life coming together for just one day.  Love, ceremony, family, celebration, great food, best friends, stylish outfits, beautiful venues, dancing, debauchery, etc.   They are amazing.  They are ephemeral.  They can be a little crazy.  And I love them.  I love everything about them, actually.

Since 1998 when I first started documenting weddings on the beaches of Hawaii, I have held my camera as a reflector and as a story-teller to all the nuanced beauty and love and emotionality of a wedding day.  It’s been a tremendous honor and responsibility and I’ve now shot some 500 beach weddings, and have covered nearly 300 full day weddings as well, in cathedrals, redwood groves and vineyards.

I think of my wedding photography style as a mix of photojournalism, classic portraiture, and fun.  I will unobtrusively tell the story of your day as a newspaper photojournalist would.  When the light and/or moment is just right I will make suggestions to make beautiful, classic portraits. Throughout it all I bring a relaxed and positive attitude and support people to connect with each other, express themselves and have fun.  The mix of these three elements creates a wonderful blend of images from a wedding day that my clients love.
